the drive to waxahachie texas was awesome. i unintentionally took the scenic route and spent 5 hours wandering about texas. yesterday i drove back (it was a quick 24 hour trip for a friend's wedding) and it was only a 3.5 hour drive. i sang the entire time both ways. my voice is hoarse.

lots of time to think. no doubt the songs i downloaded that were new for the trip will be emotionally tied to the trip and to the things i thought about. that's what makes music so amazing. everyone has experienced a song taking them back somewhere to emotions and experiences instantly. my favorite part about this is that you can take a really popular song that millions of people have listened to over and over again, and in 10 years if they all listened to it again it would be the same song but every person would have a completely different experience because of what it tied them to in the past. on the way back i shuffled through my ipod and listened to random music that i loved in middle school, high school, and college. i decided to make a list of the songs that have ever really taken me back, but quickly abandoned the idea. music has been an incredibly involved aspect of my life and the playlist would have taken an insane amount of time to create.. it would also be a waste of time since about 75% of the music on my ipod is significant that way.

texas is really, really pretty to drive through. i've always loved driving on the freeway, but i just realized how ugly i15 in utah is, except at sunset. utah has better sunsets.
