sunday

i love sundays because everyone is in a better mood than the rest of the week, and there is better food (these might be related). for example, my roommate amie made delicious banana chocolate chip muffins from scratch today. also, i made this for dinner:
let me describe it to you in detail, first there is a white corn tortilla. i spread refried beans (with chili peppers) on top, covered it with cheese, and then put onions and chicken (cooked in taco seasoning) on top. covered it with more cheese. put on another tortilla. once it was done i poured on delicious salsa, slopped a dollop of sour cream and another dollop of guacamole, and then devoured. aMAZing.

my friend david came by to see how amie and i were doing. my sunglasses were on the counter so of course he had to wear them. ta-da:

also, i met up with an old friend, bergen. he bought a snake since the last time i saw him. it's name is loki. he's some kind of constrictor or python i think. here's what i think about snakes: they're incredibly fascinating creatures.. i mean, what the heck, snakes are amazing. will i ever own one? no, i could not feed it mice or other small creatures. uh-uh.

the way this week has been

has driven me to the ice cream more than once..

today's variety is store brand cake batter. it definitely tastes like cake batter, it tastes like they took a chocolate cake powder mix and dumped it in the ice cream. mmm.

look who i met today,

and who totally loved me:
ignore the fact that they are slightly leaning away from me and that my head is tilted more towards edward. i'm definitely on team jacob. i mean please, when the decision is purely based on levels of attractiveness, jacob wins. based on personality, jacob wins. based on their humanity, jacob wins. the major and shared downfall which keeps them from perfection is that they are are both creepy; in the end, jacob falls in love with bella's baby, but edward is 80 years old, so you tell me who wins on that scale.

also ignore the fact that i am wearing (as my aunt calls it) my "uniform" - sweats from top to bottom. i know how to clothe myself appropriately in public, but today i just didn't care. deal with it. at least my sunglasses are cute.. despite the fact that it was cloudy today.

note the white-ish spot on my pants. it's sauce from a bean burrito, don't eat and drive. bummer.

jonathan, my good friend, let me come to fye with him today. he also took me on a scenic drive to make my day better. he's the best.

also, i read an interview with alicia keys in TIME magazine recently, while waiting for my car to be washed. they never told me it was finished so i sat there waiting for an hour, only to look out the window and see it gleaming in the sun where it had been for 45 minutes. anyway, the interview inspired me. especially the questions about school and about inner city kids listening to classical music.

other things that have happened lately:
me and my friend chris, enjoying late-night sparkling cider in his amazing car (it's a black mustang. i like it because of the leather and BEAUTIFUL sound system). notice his cool eyes, they're different colors.

i babysat my cousins for a few days. this is sophia. she calls me like this "my header, my header" and i melt.

ALSO, i bowled a TURKEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have always wanted to do that!!!!!!!!!!!! OH EM GEE (<-- i just said oh em gee!) i bowled a turkey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that's three strikes in a row, and they were my first three turns no less. i'm not usually good at bowling. i am in the 60-80 point range, but i will admit that once i bowled a 13, and another time (pictured above) i scored about 110.

found this statue of a moose in a cul-de-sac behind rock canyon park. WHY?

my old roommate cara had a peep jousting match...

those are the important highlights right now.

i made salad for lunch

and realized that some lettuce leaves are just terrible. i think it's the red ones, they're disgusting. a person could get fat off of salad because of all the extra dressing they'd have to put on it to mask the gross taste of some of the leaves.
other than that it's a pretty good salad. italian dressing is my favorite.

today i went to the bank, took back a couple of redbox movies, dropped amie off at work, drove around looking for more photo locations, and called my grandpa. so far so good. tonight i'm taking my girl yovanna rollerblading around provo. she's awesome, 13, i met her through a program at byu.

oh so many things to say today!!!

today i got my hair cut by my girl tricia of urban metropolitan hair salon. she's the bomb because i never cry when i leave her chair. she cut my hair exactly the way i wanted today, and also enlightened me to a life direction option i didn't know existed. more on that later if it works out.

i'm happy because now i can wear my hair in a pony tail without it looking like the tail of an actual horse. ps i'm not that tan, it's the lighting.

other noteworthy things, i consumed this entire container of mango tango in less than 48 hours. there are two reasons for this, (1) it was taking up too much precious fridge space, (2) it's the most delicious nectar i've ever had the pleasure of guzzling, and oh did i guzzle.

i've been waiting for this week for about a month now. yesterday i started working out at the gym again and i went again this morning. my plan is to go 5-6 days a week for a couple of months. reasons: my poor neglected and abused body needs it, also, i spent good money for the privilege of being able to go. after i went yesterday, i drove over to my favorite produce store around, sunflower market. oh my gosh oh my gosh, guess who i SAW there?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! stephanie nielson. STEPHANIE NIELSON. of the nienie dialogues blog. she is an inspiration to me. i've followed her blog for a year now. she and her husband were in a near fatal plane crash a while ago. she had been blogging for a while before, had quite the following because she is so fun to read. anyway, this blog is her journey. she was on oprah a few months ago telling her story, and she's just amazing. her blog has brought me to tears, made me laugh, and helped me appreciate simple things so much. please, do yourself a favor and get to know her!!! oh my gosh, i can't believe i met her! i have to tell you the story!!! hence:

i was sitting in my car on the phone with my mom, parked in the parking lot of sunflower market. i see a big SUV park, and a woman gets out. ohemgee it's stephanie nielson!!! i tell my mom "MOM! guess who i'm looking at, RIGHT NOW!!!!" she is excited for me. i want to run up and hug her but i stay in my car watching her get her boys ollie and nicholas out of the car. they are as cute in person as on the blog. also, nicholas has amazing cheeks. they go in the store. i am still on the phone, in my car. i get out. i finish the conversation with my mom. i keep an eye on the three people who don't know me but i know so much about. i am so stealth. nobody sees me as i subtly follow this most amazing woman around the store for 15 minutes. finally i find nerve and go up to her. "stephanie!" she looks at me and smiles, waiting to hear what i have to say. i'm sure she experiences this interaction everywhere she goes, but i can sense immediately that she cares about what i have to say. "my name is heather, i've been reading your blog for a year and i just wanted to say hi. i wish i had time to tell you how much you have inspired me. thank you so much." as i was talking, all of a sudden her eyes watered and she smiled. i started to choke up. i didn't realize this would be emotional for me, but it was, very. she said "come here! oh thank you so much!" and pulled me into a hug. OH MY GOSH!!!! i was so happy, i smiled so big. she's amazing. i looked at her boys. they looked at me. "are you helping your mom shop?" they silently held up two huge bags full of taffy. stephanie laughed and said "anything to get us through!" i laughed with her. she thanked me for saying hi, i thanked her for being amazing, we went our ways. i'm so glad i met her. oh my goodness. what a sweet, amazing woman. i'm so glad i said hi. by the way, even though her face has been burned and damaged, the absolute only thing you notice when you look right into her face is her eyes. they are BEAUTIFUL. they are really stunning. i wish that i'd thought to tell her that. whenever she posts pictures of herself on her blog i want to comment and say it, but she doesn't have commenting allowed on her blog. if i'd thought of it i would have told her.
